NASA has launched its most sophisticated and ambitious mission to Mars yet in hopes of determining if life is, or ever was, buried there. The Curiosity rover is due to land on the Martian surface in August of 2012 and will take sedimentary samples from the soil and rocks found in the Gale Crater, where NASA hopes to find evidence of microbial life in what is believed to have once been a wet and warm environment.
