In the workplace, there are some basic skills you need to know, such as how body language speaks volumes to people. This Parent Toolkit video offers tips on how to make a good impression with good body language.

Professional Skills 101 - Body Language

JJ RAMBERG reporting:

You make an impression without saying a word. It all starts when you enter a room. Think about how others see you. Pay attention to your body language. Start with your posture and eyes. Instead of looking down and slouching, stand straight and look at who you encounter. Don’t stand too tall, it could come across as overconfident. Be relaxed and make sure to smile. When sitting, drop your shoulders back and tilt forward slightly from the waist. This keeps your body open and shows you are interested in the conversation. As for your hands? Avoid fidgeting and wild hand gestures. And whether you are standing or sitting, keep your lower body relaxed. No swaying or dancing feet.  Even if you don’t realize it, people pay attention to your nonverbal cues.
