There are some basic skills you need to know to succeed in the workplace, such as making eye contact. This Parent Toolkit video offers tips on when and how to make eye contact.

Professional Skills 101 - Eye Contact

JJ RAMBERG reporting:

Eye contact expresses sincerity. It shows you are listening and care about the conversation. When and how you make eye contact matters.  When? When you meet someone new, during an interview, while listening to others speak, when sharing ideas, or giving a presentation; look at who you are talking to. How? Look directly at someone else’s eyes when they are speaking. Don’t stare someone down, but don’t avert your eyes too quickly. Take short one-to-two second breaks, but avoid darting eyes and looking up or down. If it feels awkward, try drawing an imaginary triangle around the person’s face, changing your gaze from each point every five to ten seconds. Practice looking at someone’s eyes long enough to register what color they are before looking away.
