From triangles, squares and circles, to cubes, spheres and even parallel lines, geometry surrounds us every day. This Parent Toolkit video offers ways to point geometry out using fun activities.

Geometry

KATE SNOW, reporting:

Geometry is everywhere: In your house, on the road, even in your pocket. Kids often struggle with the topic at school, but parents can do a lot to help. Here's how: Point out shapes to younger kids. See if they can find triangles, circles or even parallel lines. Do a jigsaw puzzle. It helps kids recognize differences and similarities in shape. Involve older kids in projects around the home. From painting a room, to laying carpet, or even wrapping a present, your child's understanding of area will help avoid wasting any materials. Seeing how geometry is used every day will help reinforce the concepts your child is learning in school.
