Soraya Gage is a 25-year veteran of NBC News and currently serves as Vice President of Education and General Manager of NBC Learn, the educational arm of NBC News. In her role, she manages NBC Learn.com, subscription products for k-12 schools and Higher Ed colleges and universities, and the Parenttoolkit.com. From her first job as an NBC page, Gage has worked on several major network broadcasts, including NBC News at Sunrise, TODAY, NBC Nightly News, and Dateline NBC. She has produced long-form programming, breaking newscasts, investigative journalism, and high profile newsmaker interviews. During her tenure at NBC News, she has earned an Emmy Award, five Emmy nominations, an Edward R. Murrow Award, two Cine Golden Eagles, four National Headliner Awards, a Prism Award, a Clarion Award, two Sigma Delta Chi Awards, Finalist placement for the Nancy Dickerson Whitehead Award, and the Award of Excellence from Mothers Against Drunk Driving. In addition, NBC Learn’s “Science of…” series is the winner of a Sports Emmy Award. A graduate of Trinity College in Hartford, Connecticut with a B.A. in Art History, Gage also received her M.S. in journalism with honors from the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism where she was also a Fellow in the Punch Sulzberger Program.
Mark Miano oversees the production of all original, archival and current events stories on the NBC Learn websites. Prior to joining NBC Learn, Mark was a senior producer for NBC’s Peacock Productions. He has also worked at ABC News, Bloomberg Television, WPIX-TV, The MacNeil/Lehrer Newshour, The New York Observer, and is the author of three crime novels.
Senior Manager Product Development
Sanjay oversees all aspect of product development and the 24X7 customer support services. He brings over 15 years of experience in design, development, architecture and commandeering agile teams in developing Innovative, multiplatform software products.Prior to joining NBC Learn, Sanjay worked with GE Capital as a portal architect, he has his Masters in computer science from India.
Special Projects Producer
Norman has been at NBC Learn since 2006, where has produced and written video collections and live town halls and overseen partnerships and implementations in districts. Norman's background is in historical documentary production. He got his start working for filmmaker Ric Burns and has produced and written documentaries for the History Channel, A&E and the National Geographic Channel.
Jamie joined the NBC Learn team in 2015 from NBC News Education Nation, where she continues to manage ParentToolkit.com. Jamie started her career in 2006 at CBS News, covering breaking news, business and politics. She joined NBC News in 2011 producing at Rock Center with Brian Williams and joined Education Nation in 2013 to oversee the launch of the Parent Toolkit. Jamie is a proud graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Madison with a B.A. in both in journalism and women's studies.
Caleb hails from Pittsfield, Massachusetts where he attended Berkshire Community College as an art student, then transferred to film school at New York University. He started his career in documentary filmmaking and began working for NBC Learn in 2006. In his free time, he enjoys reading about American history and discussing film. Caleb lives with his wife and dog, Lord Nelson, on Staten Island.
Stephen has been writing and producing original and archival content for NBC Learn since 2007. His career began in television sales and media relations at the CBS and ABC television stations in Seattle, Washington before transitioning into television production, where he wrote and produced nonfiction programming for networks including the Discovery Channel, A&E, TLC, and HGTV. A native of New Hampshire, Stephen graduated from Sarah Lawrence College with a B.A. in Liberal Arts.
Ellen is an original member of the NBC Learn production team and currently produces content for the original collections and manages social media. She was the digital producer/editor for the NBC Olympics mobile site and iPhone application for the 2010 Vancouver Olympics. Ellen began her career as a CNN intern while studying journalism and Spanish at Miami University in Ohio.
Bonny joined NBC Learn in 2007, writing and producing content for the many archival and original collections. She developed and produced Writers Speak to Kids, a collection inspired by her love of books. Previously, Bonny worked for AETN and in the arts sector.
Andrew joined NBC Learn in 2015 from the Education Nation team. He continues to manage Education Nation’s digital presence and contributes to the Parent Toolkit. He is responsible for local outreach efforts around the Parent Toolkit and works with the broader NBC News Group on coverage of educational issues. Prior to joining NBC News, Andrew was a high school math teacher.
Christie is responsible for NBC Learn marketing initiatives. Christie was a writer and content specialist at WXIX in Cincinnati during the 2012 presidential election. Christie covered the 2011 Kentucky's governor race and interned at WLEX-18. She has worked with notables like former MSNBC show host Dylan Ratigan and former chief political writer for the Courier-Journal, Al Cross. Christie is from Park Hills, Kentucky and graduated from the University of Kentucky in 2012 with a degree in broadcast journalism and history.
Laura joined the NBC Learn team in 2011. She manages the current events page and produces videos for NBC Learn’s original collections. An alum of Marquette University, she began her career with NBC News in 2008 as a videotape engineer. Laura is an avid reader, lover of whales, and she is an open water marathon swimmer, which means she has spent an unusual amount of time in the Hudson River and Atlantic Ocean.
Bernie has more than 35 years in television production starting at local affiliates. He covered two presidential conventions, was in Romania for the fall of communism in 1989, and was at the 1979 nuclear disaster at Three Mile Island. In the 1990’s he joined ABC News editing for World News Tonight with Peter Jennings, and later CBS News editing The Twentieth Century with Mike Wallace. He started with NBC in 2001, editing documentaries for Discovery, History Channel, and A&E, among others. In 2006, he was one of the founding members of NBC Learn. Bernie is fluent in the production programs Avid Media Composer, Final Cut Pro, Adobe After Effects and Adobe Photoshop.
A native New "Yawker," George joined the team in 2011 to help with the creation of NBC Learn's original video content such as the Science of the Summer Olympics, Chemistry Now and Science Behind the News series. Although he's a newbie with us, he has over 15 years of broadcast experience as a video editor and content creator working for MSNBC, VH1, CNBC, Food Network and ABC News. His work ranges from long-form documentary-style shows, to music videos, commercials, as well as news packages for Good Morning America. Prior to working in television, he spent a few years working in the locations department on movies such as Smoke, Blue in the Face, and even Die Hard with a Vengeance. He's also proudly line produced an independent film, Destination Unknown, which won the 1997 Hamptons International Film Festival. He currently believes NBC Learn is the best job "evah!"
Bryan Kohl has worked in video post-production since 1998, with experience in broadcast television, feature films, and documentary and educational video. He has been an Editor at NBC Learn since 2007.
Carol joined NBC in 1971 where she was a production assistant on NBC News documentaries. She then was a researcher in the NBC News Archives department, researching daily for Today, Nightly News, Dateline, NBC News specials, WNBC and other programs. Carol took early retirement in 2005, but was called back in 2006 where she was thrilled to come to NBC Learn to put her knowledge and memory of NBC's archives to use again for a new generation to enjoy and learn from.
Technology & Support
Virender has over 9 years of consulting experience in design and development of web applications platforms. Virender will be involved in support and development of NBC Learn projects. He has Bachelor Degree in Information Technology from Kurukshetra University, India.
Client Support Manager
Chad is responsible for ensuring NBC Learn customers receive quick and friendly support for all their technical needs. Chad began working with NBC Learn almost 2 years ago and during his time he has provided support for all NBC Learn users and administration of the NBC Learn accounts. Originally working in finance, Chad has been growing his technical skills working with NBC Learn and brings to his role experience with project coordination and customer service.
Atmaram Muduli, PMP®
Atmaram is having over 12 years of IT experience in architecture designing and maintaining web & mobile based platforms. He is involved in support and development of NBC Learn projects. He has a Master's Degree in Computer Application from Utkal University, India.
Client Support Representative
Joe is part of the NBC Learn Support Team and therefore assists any customer/internal employee. He has an elaborate background in technical assistance as well as customer support, having supported a multitude of products, including many proprietary ones.
Jayant has over 4 years of experience in developing end to end Web and Mobile applications. His responsibility in NBC Learn is to develop great User Experiences using HTML5 web standards. He owns a Bachelor of Technology degree in Computer Science and Engineering with Honors.
Richa has over 4 years of experience in design and development of web applications. Richa will be involved in support of NBC Learn projects. She has Master's Degree in Computer Science from Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University, India.
Ankit has over 4 years of experience in development of web applications and search technologies. Ankit will be involved in support of NBC Learn projects. He has Master's Degree in Computer Science from Maharshi Dayanand University, India.
Abdul Saleem holds a decade of experience in the creative field having exposure in multiple verticals on user experience and digital arts. His endeavors are mainly focused toward the graphics and usability aspects on the web and mobile platforms. His creative expertise also extends to the field of branding where he uses the right sets of infographics and UI artifacts for promoting businesses on the Internet.
Sales & Marketing
Account Manager, Higher Education
Megan is responsible for sales and client relations working with Colleges and Universities. She came to NBC Learn from The Chronicle of Higher Education where she worked with major publishing companies, university presses, authors and faculty members. Megan graduated from Hamilton College with a B.A. in Art History and currently resides in New York City.
Manager, Client Services K-12 and Higher Education
Jane oversees the Client Services Team and is a former teacher through Teach for America. She received her M.S. in Education from The City College of New York. She taught Secondary Special Education in the Bronx for three years before joining NBC Learn in 2011. Jane is from St. Louis, Missouri and graduated from the University of Michigan with a B.A. in Organizational Psychology.
Trainer and Curriculum Specialist
Cyndy is from Houston, TX and graduated from Texas A&M University with a BBA in Marketing. After working in marketing and advertising for six years, she received a Masters of Education in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Houston and has almost 20 years of experience in education including implementing NBC Learn into her own US History classroom.
Lindsay is responsible for client services for our K-12 schools. She has worked with teachers in the Midwest and New York in order to learn how to best combine music and technology in the classroom. Lindsay currently resides in New York and has a B.M.E. in Secondary Music Education from Northern Michigan University.
