NBC LEARN PARTNERS WITH BLACKBOARD TO LAUNCH ONLINE VIDEO SERIES FOCUSING ON INNOVATIVE “SOLUTIONS IN ACTION”

Showcasing successful examples of technology in education, the series is available on NBCLearn.com and Blackboard.com

NEW YORK, NY—Nov. 29th, 2011— NBC Learn and Blackboard Inc. today launched “Solutions in Action”—an online video series focusing on innovative and successful uses of technology in education. Hosted by NBC News’ Chief Education Correspondent Rehema Ellis, the videos are produced by NBC Learn and are available on NBCLearn.com and Blackboard.com. The videos explore topics that range from new systems to better measure student progress, to virtual platforms that expand access to new and unique subjects in the classroom, and project-based design technologies.

The videos celebrate some of education’s top influencers and their contributions in and out of the classroom. Episodes launching today feature the following innovators:

– Freeman Hrabowski, President of University of Maryland Baltimore County
– Julie Young, Founder of Florida Virtual School
– Marc Ecko, Entrepreneur, Designer, and Education Activist

“As a journalist covering education, it’s exciting to be able to dig deeper into the subject of technology and how innovation can help improve students’ academic achievement,” said Ellis. “These videos highlight some incredible ideas, and we look forward to featuring more innovators in the weeks to come.”

“One of the goals of NBC Learn is to continually seek out additional ways to improve the classroom experience,” said Soraya Gage, Executive Producer of NBC Learn. “By partnering with Blackboard, we can add another set of classroom resources to our collection, while at the same time, shine a spotlight on what is working in education.”

“This video series marks the newest addition to our growing list of partnership activities with NBC Learn,” said Ted Hopper, vice president of business development at Blackboard. “We are excited to be able to work together to provide site visitors with easy access to the thoughts, ideas and experiences of industry leaders and innovators on leveraging technology in education.”

The “Solutions in Action” video collection is the latest initiative from the NBC Learn/Blackboard partnership. To learn more, visit NBCLearn.com or Blackboard.com.
